Thanks for sharing these pages with us, Mr. S. Though I enjoyed this glimpse into English life in the '50s, it also made me terribly sad. I think it's the idea that her family cared so little that they tossed her precious diary into a pile of trash for a car boot sale. How fortunate that you were the one to come upon it.
I'm glad you enjoyed the 1952 diary Marie. I purchased it from a house clearance van at the car-boot sale, so perhaps all of Denis and Annabelle's family have now passed away?

DeleteIt also occurs to me that transcribing this 1952 diary and publishing as a book would be worth doing - it's social history!
